One of the key considerations in the design of the Penthouse Lisbon was the behavior of colors in relation to the solar orientation of the flat. Valadao conducted a thorough lighting study and carefully selected the right colors for each room, ensuring that natural light is maximized from sunrise to sunset. This attention to detail creates a harmonious and inviting atmosphere throughout the penthouse.
What sets the Penthouse Lisbon apart is its innovative use of space. With minimal masonry walls, the entire living area is concentrated in the center, creating a fluid and interconnected layout. From the TV room to the office that connects to the living room, which in turn communicates with the dining room and kitchen, every space is thoughtfully designed to optimize functionality and flow.
Valadao's expertise in material selection is evident in the Penthouse Lisbon. To ensure durability and resistance to temperature differences, solid wood panels were eschewed in favor of more stable alternatives for the interior doors and cabinets. Similarly, quartezite was chosen for the marble surfaces, offering superior resistance to acids and daily wear and tear.
The attention to detail in the Penthouse Lisbon is remarkable. Bronze semi-mirrored glass doors inside the entrance wardrobe create a sense of transparency and elegance. The carpentry, including a bookcase installed on a sloping wall, was meticulously designed on-site to ensure perfect alignment with the unique architectural features of the space.
Functionality was a key consideration in the design of the Penthouse Lisbon. The choice and design of each cabinet were carefully thought out to provide users with a low-maintenance living experience without compromising on aesthetics. The combination of practicality and beauty is seamlessly integrated throughout the penthouse.
The Penthouse Lisbon project, which started in September 2021 and concluded in September 2022, is a testament to Valadao's ability to connect two distinct cultures and create a home that feels welcoming and familiar. Extensive research was conducted to understand the lifestyle and preferences of the homeowners, ensuring that their needs were met and that they felt at home in a foreign country.
Despite the challenges posed by the sloping walls, the construction of the Penthouse Lisbon was completed within the designated timeframe. A specialist carpentry team worked tirelessly to ensure that the unique architectural features were flawlessly executed, resulting in a stunning and functional living space.
The Penthouse Lisbon, with its innovative design, attention to detail, and emphasis on natural light and space, is a true architectural marvel. It offers a living experience that seamlessly blends form and function, creating a home that is both visually stunning and highly functional.
